Play Solo or Group

Should You Play Solo or in Groups in World of Warcraft?

Deciding whether to play solo or in groups on WoW is a dilemma many new players may get hung up on and at times, so do experienced ones.  When you log on, you’ll see other players in your area looking for help questing, except at times when the server has a low population.  Here are a few things to consider before setting out on your adventure.

  • How much time will you be playing this session?
  • If limited on time, how many of your important quests do you want to complete?
  • Do you think the mobs you’ll have to kill are manageable for one person or do you pull too much aggro?
  • How much grinding/farming do you want to do?  Grinding (or farming) is when a player kills things for the items that are dropped in order to sell them.  Farming is also used to describe the gathering of ore and herbs.

We all have our bad days of feeling less than sociable, and on those days we obviously want little or no company; it’s the rest of the time you have decide about.

The amount of gaming time you have and what you want to accomplish during it is the biggest factor to consider.  Players short on time find that grinding and fast, easy to complete quests are best done solo. You can get into the area, take what you need, avoid the mobs and collect your gold.

It’s when you’re faced with multiple mobs in one area or there are Elite creatures patrolling the item you want that one or more other players fighting with you is handy.  Sometimes the only way to decide if you need help is by going in alone and dying a few times.

Playing solo or in groups on WoW depends on your mood, what your objective is, how much time you have and where you have to go.  While certain activities must be done in groups, like raiding enemy cities, running instances or crawling dungeons, almost anything else can be done solo.  If you want to be alone, remember it just might take a little longer.
